New Apprenticeship hub for South Yorkshire to train 300 apprentices

A new Apprenticeship Hub is set to train approximately 300 individuals in South Yorkshire, aiming to bolster the county's economy. The hub will be located at the mayor's offices in Sheffield and will collaborate with the South Yorkshire Colleges Partnership to deliver training. This initiative forms part of a comprehensive plan to enhance the skills of nearly 40,000 workers within the next three years.

Oliver Coppard, the Mayor of South Yorkshire, emphasised that the county not only requires economic growth but also a superior economy. He stressed the necessity of ensuring that individuals possess the appropriate education and skills to access the jobs and opportunities brought forth by the new economy.

Functioning as a comprehensive resource, the hub will serve as a "one-stop shop" for businesses and apprentices, offering guidance and support to companies seeking individuals with specialised technical proficiencies.

Sir Stephen Houghton CBE, the leader of Barnsley Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the hub's establishment, noting its potential to propel local economies forward. He highlighted that the Apprenticeship Hub would contribute to supporting residents, organisations, and businesses throughout South Yorkshire, creating opportunities for individuals to fulfill their learning potential and develop the skills required to enter the workforce and advance their careers.
