Role: Trainee Design/Production Support Technician
Salary: 25,000 - 30,000 per annum
Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (35 hours per week) (Office based)

Berry Recruitment are working on behalf of a new client in the aerospace industry, and we're excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Design / Production Support Technician to join their team. This role is perfect for someone looking to kickstart their career in aerospace, supporting the design and production teams or someone who is looking to take a step down and provide much needed support to teams.

Our client, a leading company in aerospace design, production, and repair, is seeking additional support to assist their experienced design and production teams. This position will allow you to gain hands-on experience in product design, production engineering, and inspection tasks, while playing a key role in enhancing the efficiency of projects as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities of the Trainee Design/Production Support Technician once trained;

  • Preparing all the groundwork required to track original samples and produce high quality Reverse Engineering data that can be leveraged by the design team.
  • Digital photography and cataloguing, laser scanning, laser scan mesh preparation, editing and export using Handyscan Laser Scanning Hardware and VX Elements software.
  • Raising of First Off/Article templates to the AS9102 standard and generating ballooned inspection drawings.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering data, drawings and specifications to prepare Production Bills of Materials (BOM) based on Design Data and Production and Supply Chain requirements
  • Review Job/Work card feedback and discrepancies, draft updates and submit for technical check.
  • Technical Library management and data entry.
  • Colour Matching.
  • Use of inspection equipment.
  • Complete Goods In and First Article Inspection of manufactured products for the lead Production & Quality Inspector.
  • Operate Company Vehicles (deliveries etc.) (subject to insurance age restrictions and driving qualifications)


About you:
Essential

  • Fluent verbal and written English
  • Proven, well developed and disciplined work ethic both independently and in a team.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Data entry, precise working, accuracy and following due process.


Desirable

  • Competent viewer of parts and models in 3D space and understanding of 2D orthographic engineering drawings.
  • Competent user of a Shadowgraph, FaroArm CMM or Handyscan Laser Scanning hardware and software.
  • Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop Graphics Design
