Due to continued business growth, we are looking to recruit a Junior / Graduate Design Engineer to join a leading global business in Liverpool

The role will involve working with technical specifications and design of piping components used in a range of sectors including Nuclear, Offshore, Oil and Gas and Subsea applications.

This is a full time permanent opportunity with an industry leader in their field.

Candidates will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering with experience in carrying out design calculations alongside producing CAD Drawings using Solid works and AutoCAD.

This would be a great opportunity to a Graduate with 1 -2 years experience post study looking for a new challenge with a global business

Job Description

  • Perform mechanical & piping design calculations
  • Produce detailed technical drawings and or 3D models using Solidworks and AutoCAD
  • Review technical specifications, vendor documents, material datasheets, equipment data, piping components etc. Ensure they meet project and code requirements.
  • Liaise with the quality and production teams to ensure designs are aligned with production methods and machining capabilities. Support client inspections and assist with non-conformity / RCA.
  • Work with the project team to ensure designs are delivered on time. Contribute to project plans, technical reviews and required change management.
  • Maintain engineering documentation: calculation files, design basis, drawing revisions, material certificates and supplier documentation.
  • Stay up to date with engineering best practice, relevant regulations, industry standards, safety & environmental requirements.

Required / Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Experienced working in the oil & gas / petrochemical / process piping industry, with exposure to design calculations and code compliance.
  • Working knowledge of ASME / API codes. Knowledge of NORSOK standards is advantageous
  • Good competence in CAD tools: SolidWorks and or AutoCAD.
  • Strong analytical & numeracy skills; ability to perform detailed calculations, interpret code tables, pipe schedules etc.
  • Ability to read, interpret and review technical specifications, contracts.
