Job Title: Tool Technician Apprentice
Location: Wotton, Nr Dorking - own transport is required due to rural location
Training Provider: SIGTA Training

As a Tool Technician Apprentice, you will learn to work with precision tools and equipment while gaining hands-on experience under the supervision of qualified technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the cleaning, maintenance, servicing, and repair of production tools.
  • Learn how to inspect tools for wear or damage and carry out basic repairs or modifications under supervision.
  • Help with setting up and operating standard workshop machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
  • Follow detailed engineering drawings and specifications to ensure tooling is produced to required standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and tooling condition reports.
  • Document service & repair work by completing electronic records, including photographs of issues documented.
  • At times support production by completing cleans or repairs in the clean room factory.
  • Assist in equipment repairs and breakdown if required.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Learn and adhere to all relevant health and safety standards and procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings and toolbox talks to develop understanding of continuous improvement practices.
  • Attend relevant training courses and complete academic coursework associated with the apprenticeship.

Qualifications:

  • Interest in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or toolmaking
  • Must meet eligibility criteria for an approved apprenticeship program

Training and Development provided via SIGTA

  • You will be enrolled in a recognized Toolmaking or Engineering Apprenticeship program.
  • On-the-job training combined with formal study at a partner college or training provider.
  • Mentorship from experienced tool technicians and engineers.
