About this Apprenticeship

Our client, a family-run business operating across the Utility and Construction sectors, are currently looking to expand their team and hire a Trainee Quantity Surveyor.

The company -

Offering services within telecoms, water rehab, and electric mains installations. Their groundwork division offers 278 works, sub station build, drainage, utilities, footings, concrete, grab hire and full reinstatement works.

The role -

This is an amazing opportunity to train as a Quantity Surveyor in an exciting market whilst studying/completing academic courses, funded by our client.

You will be trained in the below duties -

  • Taking off from technical drawings and preparing bills of quantities
  • Valuing ongoing works on site and submitting applications for payment
  • Managing live contracts up to a combined value of circa 5 - 10 million
  • Measuring and submitting costs for variations
  • Assessing and managing sub-contractor payments
  • Cost reporting for live projects
  • Forecasting for live projects
  • Overseeing and carrying out rate build-up processes
  • Formulating and negotiating price increase agreements

Requirements -

  • 4 GCSE's grade A-C
  • Driving licence preferred
  • Previous experience within the construction/civil engineering industry preferred
  • Ambitious
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good skills within Microsoft packages such as Excel and Word
  • Able to commute to the office based in Stoke
