Since 1991 The Bristol Port Company has invested over £600 million in equipment and people to create one of the country s most technically advanced ports. We are now looking for motivated people to join our Apprenticeship Scheme.

You ll start on a basic salary of £19,104 per annum, rising to over £35,600 after successful completion of a two-year apprenticeship and a one-year training programme.

Port Operations Apprentice You Will Learn:

- How to handle cargo in a modern port environment

- How to operate modern cargo handling equipment from cranes to front end loaders and fork-lift trucks

- To work effectively in a strong team

- How to develop your team building skills to equip you for a successful career at the Port

- Full safety training and supervision will be given and we ll also give you all the safety equipment you need

Port Operations Apprentice You:

- You MUST have a driving licence, or be working towards one

- You ll have a good head for heights, be physically fit and have good hand-eye co-ordination

- You must enjoy working as part of a team

- You will be flexible about working shifts including night shifts on any day including weekends

- You will be confident at using computers as much of our equipment is computer controlled

- You will also have good numeracy and literacy skills

Qualifications:

You will be able to gain some or all of these qualifications:

- NVQ Level 2 in Port Operations

- NVQ Level 3 in Supervisory Management
