Hours and pay

From £12.50 per hour

7am-7pm/7pm-7am rotating weekly Monday to Friday (40-48 hours per week)

Role Summary

As a Trainee Mounting Operative, your primary responsibility will be to mount print plates in preparation for print press operations, ensuring there is no waiting time and that you are always ahead of production demand. You will assist with any plate/registration issues and ensure all tasks are completed to the highest standards.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

- Prioritise mounting jobs for each individual press.
- Ensure the correct works ticket, plates, and sleeves are used prior to mounting.
- Clean all plates and sleeves using the correct solvent.
- Align cameras to job specifications and ensure team leader approval.
- Use the correct mounting tape for each individual colour.
- Log mounting jobs using the APS system and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and obstruction-free working area.
- Communicate effectively with the Mounting Co-ordinator, Team Leader, and Shift Manager.
- Adhere to site health and safety, environmental, and quality standards including BRC, ISO, and A2 environmental.
- Organise workload in line with the daily print programme.
- Inspect and store printing plates for subsequent use.
- Assist with production operations and equipment maintenance as required.

Skills, Capabilities, and Attributes

- No prior experience required.
- Previous experience in a production environment is essential.
- Familiarity with quality, health, safety, and environmental standards within a production setting.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing practices, such as 5S, is preferred.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rota basis, covering both days and nights.
- A reasonable level of fitness is required, as the role involves some physical activity such as lifting and bending.
