Your new company

Having been in the game for a good few decades, this contractor works across a range of disciplines, from highway and bridge construction to street lighting design. They have an increasing interest in public realm projects and have recently have worked closely with a number of Local Authority customers to manage a programme of improvement schemes across various boroughs. They are proud to have delivered public realm schemes that enhance the street scene and visual appearance of the local communities they work within, helping to improve the area for local residents, pedestrians, cyclists and businesses.

Your new role

With work rolling in, this family run outfit is now looking to take on a Graduate Quantity Surveyor. This is role presents a great opportunity for someone new to the industry to get their foot in the door in a supportive company that will support your growth in the role.

The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:

  • Submitting monthly applications to clients
  • Assessing applications from subcontractors
  • Helping send out enquiries on our bigger projects that are coming up
  • Raising subcontract orders
  • Assessing payment notices
  • Site visits and measurements
  • Aiding the Senior QS in the administration of sub-contracts
  • Processing payment applications to agreed calendar

About you

Alongside a willingness to join the team and get stuck in, the successful Graduate Quantity Surveyor will need to demonstrate a desire to grow and learn within the role.

Furthermore, you should have:

  • Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering qualification or working towards, (experience and time served rather than formal qualifications will be considered)
  • Some knowledge on NEC 4
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of Commercial Management works on site
  • Strong IT skills
  • Effective communication skills
