About this Apprenticeship

My client is seeking a Trainee Commercial Estimator to join their growing business in High Wycombe.

The Trainee Commercial Estimator will assist the Commercial Estimating team in pricing quotes according to the client's requirements. They will thoroughly review the document, including specifications, project particulars, and drawings, to decide whether a quotation should be submitted based on the agreed criteria. Any necessary actions or additional information the architect requires will be identified and highlighted within the specifications.

The role includes scheduling all items to be priced, and determining which system is most suitable for pricing the project. The Trainee Estimator will send out enquiries to suppliers, follow up on their quotations, and ensure all relevant parties, such as contractors and clients, are included in the final quotation.

Throughout the process, the Estimator will make detailed notes for inclusion in the quotation return letter. Upon submitting a tender, they will diarise key dates to follow up with the client, determine if the bid was successful, and identify any reasons or shortfalls if it was not. Additionally, they will input, review, and report thoroughly on the company's management systems.

The ideal candidate will be hardworking and possess excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks. They should demonstrate strong mathematical skills essential for precise estimations and calculations. The ability to work independently, combined with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, is crucial for success in this role.

Strong organisational and planning abilities are required to manage multiple projects effectively, along with good communication skills to collaborate with clients, colleagues, and suppliers. As a team player, the candidate must be able to work well with others, contributing to a positive and productive environment.

Advanced experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential for managing data and reports.

Preferable: Previous administrative experience is an advantage.
