The Role

As a Trainee Supervisor, you will support the delivery of highway improvement and maintenance schemes while developing your supervisory and technical knowledge. Working under the guidance of a an apprentice supervisor, you will assist in coordinating site activities to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

This is a development role designed to provide practical experience in highways operations, traffic management, contractor coordination, and site documentation, with a clear progression pathway into a Supervisory position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating day-to-day site activities across highway schemes.
  • Support the implementation of work programmes and report progress to senior supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate daily site records, including photographs, labour, plant, and materials.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and health & safety requirements.
  • Support the resolution of site issues, escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Assist with inspections of Traffic Management layouts and report any defects or non-compliance.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and promoting good site practices.
