Graduate Planner
Location: Shrewsbury

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be working with an exciting property firm to recruit a Graduate Planner for their Shrewsbury office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent planning graduate to begin their career with a respected and forward-thinking consultancy. You will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of projects, supporting senior colleagues while developing your technical knowledge and progressing towards RTPI Chartership.



The Role

As a Graduate Planner, you will assist in the preparation and delivery of planning work across residential, commercial, rural, and mixed-use developments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications

  • Drafting planning statements and supporting documentation

  • Undertaking site appraisals and planning policy research

  • Supporting appeals and pre-application enquiries

  • Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, and clients

  • Attending site visits and meetings where required

  • Supporting the team with general planning and project coordination tasks



About You

The successful Graduate Planner will have:

  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline

  • RTPI accredited qualification (or working towards RTPI membership)

  • Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills

  • Good knowledge of the UK planning system

  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities

  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented approach
