The Catering and Hospitality division here at Interaction Recruitment in Northampton are currently seeking a Trainee Chef, Commis Chef or Demi Chef to work on a full time and permanent basis for a forward-thinking company located in Bedfordshire, MK44, to work either 4 long days or 5 short days per week. Both Lucie and I have had a 3hr tour with the companies Executive Chef and to say we are impressed with the company is an understatement.
We were lucky enough to see all operations in full swing over a 3hour site visit, there is a fully equipped kitchen, every staff member was welcoming, friendly and had a big smile on their face. The venue is absolutely stunning and has a really nice feel to it as you explore all areas.
In short:
Your rota will be 4 days out of 7 per week, covering 11 hours per day with a 60-minute break (flexible if you want to work overtime and take a 30-minute break) OR 5 days out of 7 per week, covering 9 hours per day with a 60 minute break and again, they are flexible if you want to work overtime and take a 30 minute break instead.
Salary will be c.£24k to £25.2k (negotiable depending on experience) + overtime + tips + benefits and perks.
Full training with CDP, Sous Chef or Head Chef will be provided to ensure personal growth.

The candidate:
- Must be flexible, adaptable, passionate, innovative, a good listener with excellent communication skills
- Shall be customer service focussed and have the ability to adapt to customer facing duties
- Can evident career history in the form of an up to date CV and references
- Will hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a reliable vehicle due to location
- Should possess a Level 2 in Food Safety or Food Hygiene (desirable)
- Could have experience working as a pub Chef and be looking for a career opportunity (desirable)
- Would be a good all rounder willing to learn all sections of the kitchen
- Might have worked in a big commercial kitchen as a KP, Cook, Trainee Chef, Commis Chef or Demi CDP (desirable)
- May have been to culinary school and seeking an opportunity within a commercial kitchen (desirable)
- Could have City and Guilds or NVQ in professional cooking (desirable)
- Might be a Commis Chef currently however, not getting the training to enhance skills (desirable)
The successful candidate will conduct a trial as part of the interview process whereby a plate will be made up or a sauce will be made from scratch or a fish will require filleting. It is imperative that applicants of this role has some cooking experience in a profressional capacity to be prepared for the trial.
The rota:
To work full time on either 4x 11 hour shifts or 5x 9 hour shifts per week. The rota will be created at least 2 weeks in advance, however, if there is sickness or last minute holiday, you may need to be flexible and work overtime. You will be paid for minimum 40 hours per week.
