The Role: Trainee Buyer Basildon based
To support the Buying team by completing administrative activities to facilitate the smooth running of the department whilst learning the essentials to become a successful Buyer (full training will be given).
Job Responsibilities
- Supporting and completing buying information into Microsoft excel sheets for the Buying team
- Preliminary sell pricing based on market research (competitor pricing + Reg RRPs)
- Creating listings of products and maintaining our systems e.g., AX uploading, description changes
- Ownership of accounts less than £50k revenue as a benchmark with development plan to take on ownership of a major FMCG group of accounts after maximum a year
- Supporting New Business by working through the commercials of deals and supporting to target supplier gaps and opportunities
- Being the eyes and ears to the market by conducting customer and competitor shopping visits and capturing insights to share with the team
Qualifications and Experience
- Cold calling
- Very numerate with minimum of Grade 5 at GCSE Level Maths & English - essential
- Trading mindset gets satisfaction from doing a deal
- Tenacious & a problem solver
- Driven interested in pursuing a career in Buying
Ideally:
- Negotiation skills training
- Sales/Buying experience.
- Confidence with core Microsoft office applications; excel, outlook

The Package
- Salary from £24,000 + a competitive salary DOE
- Full training will be given
- Monday 9:00am 5:30pm 1 hour for lunch
- Hybrid currently working Monday and Fridays at home
