About this Apprenticeship

TGL Solutions has been assigned to recruit a Trainee SHEQ Advisor to work on a major contract for a leading contractor. This role will be based from either Barnet or Romford and will provide Health & Safety support to the operational teams, who work across the North London and Essex areas.

As a Trainee SHEQ Advisor you will Working towards providing advice, assistance and guidance to operations with regards to the management of safety, health, environmental and quality issues. Developing towards being able to monitor compliance with CMO SHEQ policies and procedures and legislation. Develop an understanding of the requirements of the of safety, health, environmental, quality and wellbeing policies (SHEQW).

As a Trainee Health & Safety Advisor your duties & responsibilities will be:

Assisting the SHEQW department & operational and management team to further develop the management systems and operational practices.

Supporting the management and operational teams in their line management responsibility for safety, health, environmental, quality and wellbeing.

Developing knowledge in a range of specialist areas, e.g. risk assessments, risk management, fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational health, etc.

Providing support implementing safety, health, environmental and quality management systems.

Provide support in liaison with external bodies including the Health and Safety Executive, Clients and other stakeholders as directed by the SHEQ Manager.

Support incident management & investigation process. (developing towards) Ensuring that the investigations produced by line management are of sufficient quality and completed within prescribed timescales.

Support the Operations/Engineering Manager in the maintenance of depot SHEQ management systems.

Produce toolbox talks, team talks and appropriate SHEQ training materials about health and safety issues and risks.

Attend, support SHEQ at operational meetings.

(developing towards) Monitor trade contractors via site inspection and management audit.

Coordinate & Support behavioral safety initiatives.

Support the delivery of internal audit process requirements.

Support with the cascading of relevant SHE information.

Keep and provide records of incidents and accidents and working towards producing appropriate SHEQ statistics.

Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the industry.

(developing towards) Producing reports on work/projects/activities carried out.

Assist with the development of CMO management systems.

Act as a role model at all times in support of the CMO visions, priorities and values.

Carry out any other duties appropriate for the role.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

Consistently demonstrate high standards of safety behaviour, leading by example, promoting safety culture.

Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Capable of delivering confident articulate presentations.

Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office - Word, Powerpoint, Excel.

Must hold a current UK Driving License.

Environmental qualification

NEBOSH General

Utility SHEA Gas Passport

Previous experience as a Safety Advisor in a construction environment (Utilities experience desirable)

Internal Audit e.g. BSI or Lloyds Lead Auditor Qualification - IRCA Registered.

Gas Experience;

Scaffolding Inspection;

Accident investigation;

Face Fit tester;

NRSWA for Supervisors;

Reviewing or RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement)

SMSTS (Site Manager Safety Training Scheme)
