About Company & Role

A specialist construction contractor are currently seeking a Trainee Quantity Surveyor on a full-time permanent basis.

This is an exciting time to join this company that have enjoyed considerable growth, a strong client base and increasing pipeline of work. They have recently moved to a brand new office that has installed some fantastic entertainment facilities.

Trainee Quantity Surveyor requirements:

  • Some experience in preparation & review of main contract documents & sub-contract orders
  • Good understanding of JCT D&B contracts & knowledge of construction law & principles, some exposure to NEC contracts would be beneficial
  • Experience of working in commercial construction as a Main contractor or Sub-contractor would be beneficial, although not necessary
  • Good organisational skills & ability to multi-task, working within a medium sized team of Contracts Managers, Estimators & Directors
  • Responsibilities would be
    • Liaising with Contracts Managers regarding any potential disputes or disruption on projects
    • Reviewing sub-contract documentation for any differences between tender & quoting, highlighting clauses that will need investigation or amendment
    • Assisting with preparing final accounts, substantiation & any contract notices required
    • Liaising with Main contractors regarding instructions & variations for works
    • Assisting estimating team with pricing variations & guidance when complying with tender enquiries
  • Strong IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Ability to negotiate and present professional image with clients
  • Understanding of construction Health & Safety & promoting safe working practice
  • Good attention to detail, able to focus & find key information while working both by yourself and as part of a friendly team
  • Occasional site visits, primarily office based role in Tewkesbury

Salary / Benefits / Other details:

£25,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on experience

5% Annual Bonus on salary on company meeting yearly financial target

22 days paid holiday plus accrual of 1 day extra per year of service (up to 5 years)
