2026 QUANTITY SURVEYING APPRENTICESHIP

          We're looking for bright and motivated individuals who will bring energy, new ideas and a fresh perspective to help us become the recognised leader and transform the construction and engineering industry.    

           

          Role Overview  

          Assist with the commercial function within a project or office, with the provision of a commercial, contractual, and financial management service.  

          Whilst under supervision, to ensure project profit objectives and targets are met and cash and margin are managed to maximise performance, all in a manner consistent with the Group processes.  


          Key Deliverables and Accountabilities  

          • Assist with the commercial function core roles within project or office  
          • Implementation of company commercial practices  
          • Understand the basic commercial principles of the function  
          • Assist with the management and reporting of monthly costs  
          • Assist with the preparation and management of simple subcontracts  
          • Preparation and filing of records  
          • Assist with preparation of interim applications and final accounts from first principles  
          • Assist with valuing and pricing variations  
          • Communicating clearly and confidently to a professional standard  
          • Keep your manager fully advised of any issue/risk which has arisen or might arise, and which could affect the business/project

          Apprenticeship Provider     

          Laing O'Rourke collaborates with trusted and approved training providers for our apprenticeship delivery. Successful candidates will be required to make an application to our preferred provider for the apprenticeship route you have chosen.    

           

          Locations    

          As a project-led business, the location of our work can vary depending on project needs. This role is a project centred requiring you to be prepared to work away from home at project sites across the UK.    

           

          Entry requirements  

          We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:   

          • 4 GCSEs at C/4+, including Maths & English 
          • A minimum of 96 UCAS points across 3 A Levels or equivalent qualifications. 

           Applicants must also  

          • Have strong numeracy and literacy skills  
          • Be flexible as you may be required to work away  
          • Be eligible to work in the UK.  We cannot offer visa sponsorship

          • Video Interview  
            At this stage, you will be invited to record responses to two questions set by our hiring team. You will have sufficient time to prepare and ensure you present yourself confidently.  
          • Assessment Centre  
            Our in-person assessment centres, held at a LOR office, provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills through a combination of individual tasks, short interviews, and group activities. This is also a chance to experience our culture first-hand.  
          • Outcome  
            We aim to provide feedback and communicate the outcome of your assessment centre within two weeks.
