Apprentice Greenkeeper required for busy golf club, located in Aldeburgh
Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English, Maths and a Science at grades A-D or 9- 3. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
Key responsibilities include preparing the course for daily play, maintaining greens and grounds of the club.
Duties may include:-
- Raking the bunkers
- Maintaining playing areas
- General upkeep of site
You will be required to undergo an assessment and interview at the Otley Campus of Easton & Otley College before your application can be considered by the employer.
Working Week : Mon-Fri, 39 hrs p.w.
Salary : £214.50 Per Week

Personal Qualities :
Team player, proactive, able to work independently, flexible with hours and work required, adaptable.
Skills Required: Interest in horticulture preferred but not required
Future Prospects: Strong possibility of the position leading in to full time employment on Golf Course Grounds Crew.
Training to be Provided: Qualification: Horticulture (Greenkeeping) Standard
College Attendance: there is no regular college attendance required as the qualification will be delivered almost entirely in the workplace.
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There will be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests, including Master Classes.
Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour with effect from 1st April 2017. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. 39 hours a week : Winter Hours M-F 7am-3pm/Summer Hours M-F 6am-2pm
