Fitting / Engineering Apprentice

Location: Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 4DA.
Salary: £6.50 per hour.
Contract: Full time, permanent. Basic hours of work will be 7.30am 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

We are now recruiting for Fitting / Engineering Apprentices to provide support to the gearbox and pump fitting shops by dismantling, assessing, and reporting, and assembling various electro-mechanical components to create functioning equipment.

Main duties:

• Involvement of day-to-day workshop in relation to quality, H&S and environmental activities.
• Be able to methodically dis-assemble mechanical rotating equipment and identify worn mechanical parts/components.
• To produce detailed reports together with accompanying photographs that illustrate machine failure mode and worn/scrap components.
• To understand and be able to dissect mechanical drawings in order identify components and realise assembly techniques.
• To be able to inspect electro-mechanical rotating equipment on site to identify root cause of failure and offering a viable to solution to that failure.
• To be able to methodically assemble electro-mechanical rotating equipment following refurbishment.

What we need from you:

• GCSE or equivalent
• Be able to work individual or as part of a team when handling large projects.
• To be able to demonstrate a high attention to detail when dis-assembling/assembling electro-mechanical rotating equipment.
• A basic understanding of the technical workings of rotating equipment.
• Communicate effectively with peers, customers when on site and management.
• Health & safety, environmental or quality training would an advantage but not essential
• Ability to work to instruction and on own initiative.
• Obtain, check and use the appropriate documentation. (Such as job instructions, drawings, QC documentations)
• Selecting and using a range of measuring and testing equipment to check components are to the required quality and accuracy.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills required.
• Ability to work to instruction and on own initiative.
