We are Laing O’Rourke. We design, manufacture, engineer and build iconic buildings and complex infrastructure projects used by millions of people every day. We’re challenging the industry with innovative design and delivery techniques. Our projects are worth millions of pounds, sometimes hundreds of millions of pounds.
Imagine the number of components involved, the sheer scale of materials required and the resources we need to build the structure. Estimating all of that is what we do. It requires us to research materials, equipment, labour costs and suppliers. We need to look at the timescales and risks, prices, exchange rates and work schedules. It’s a complex but fascinating area of work.
We expect you to have a real interest in every aspect of the construction process, as well as good commercial sense. This work means looking at lots of data and getting to grips with so many different areas of construction, but also working with teams and suppliers from the bidding and buying process right through the project.
What qualifications will I need?
