About this Apprenticeship

Formed in 2006, SwimExpert is one of the industry’s largest privately owned company offering private and group lessons for all ages from 3 upwards. We also operate a leading e-commerce site,, selling swimming products. Our support office is based in Reading although we have venues across the South East/West of the country including London.

SwimExpert is looking for an apprentice who has a passion and desire to learn and succeed within the leisure industry. This is an innovative and rare apprenticeship made for those who want a mixture of office and practical, location-based, work.

Your role will be to provide support to our team of swimming coordinators and teachers. Based in our office in Reading you will learn and apply your customer service skills to deal with specific customer queries and to assist in the management of relationships with our teachers and potential teachers. You will become proficient in communicating by phone and email as well as developing efficient administration skills.

In addition, you will learn face to face customer service skills by regularly attending some of our local venues to assist our teachers and provide advice and assistance to customers.  You could even get involved in the swimming lessons if that appeals to you!

Overall you will gain valuable experience of how our business operates to be able to further your career in a number of different ways.  Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a role as a swimming coordinator, customer service assistant, or swimming teacher.

We also offer a route to becoming a swimming teacher if you decide to utilise your customer service skills to teach young and old to swim.  Further training as a Level 1 and Level 2 swimming teacher is possible for the right candidates (paid for by the company) and will suit those candidates who love a practical, hands on role.

No prior experience or qualifications are necessary (other than the educational entry requirements for the apprenticeship), however a swimming or sporting background is highly desirable along with:-

· A friendly caring, customer focussed personality

· Good organisational skills and attention to detail

· A ‘can do’ attitude and ability to use your own initiative

.  Car driver useful but not essential
