Etex Building Performance manufacture and sell construction materials. At our Bristol plant we manufacture plasterboard, laminated products, decorative coving, and bonding material.

The laboratory technician apprentice is a learning role spanning across the UK Business departments with experience of working in all areas for a period across a 24-month period, ultimately concluding within the Quality function.

Working as part of a close-knit team and welcoming company, you'll be supported and guided every step of the way. We are looking for applicants that shine, that are willing to get stuck in, contribute to the group, and become a member of our team.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who may have expereicne or interest working in the construction sector, as youll be repnsible for testing the quality of material vital to construction and manufactoring.

What it's like being an apprentice laboratory technician

The successful apprentice will work collaboratively alongside the quality control team ensuring that all products and processes meet all required internal and external standards. Be prepared to be on your feet as this role will involve a mix of factory, office, and laboratory activities.

So how does the apprenticeship work?

During this time, you will study for an apprenticeship as a Laboratory Technician (apprenticeship standard), plus gain experience of the operational aspects of a manufacturing business. Following completion of the study programme, you will then complete an End Point Assessment (EPA). You'll be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro as well as an experienced mentor at Etex who together, will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you'll need to succeed in your career. The best part? You'll be earning while you learn.

The Bristol plant is undergoing an expansion with the introduction of a new line, set to be running 2024. As such there is a potential for those with the ambition to progress and forge a career in the business, whether within the Quality department or another area.
